The Environmental Protection Authority says it will review the use of neonicotinoids
pesticides containing chemicals thought to harm bees.
 The European Union has just
voted on a near-total ban of neonicotinoids – a chemical found in most insecticides.
Some overseas studies suggest the chemicals can kill bees after they land on or
take nectar from a sprayed flower. EPA says this chemical is already regulated heavily
in New Zealand but they would look at the EU’s findings which may deem change to
New Zealand rules. Neonicotinoids are insecticides used world-wide, found in soil
and seed treatments, and domestic and commercial lawn care products. Bunnings Warehouse
confirmed they will not be selling any products containing neonicotinoids by the
end of the year.   [Read More…](https://www.radionz.co.nz/news/national/356218/epa-to-review-insecticide-thought-to-kill-bees)
