Our mission at Roots, Shoots & Fruits is to support New Zealand growers to produce quality, nutrient dense food. By growing healthier more resilient plants we can reduce costs and also reduce reliance on synthetic fungicides, pesticides and fertilisers that can be harmful to humans and the environment.
We do this by distributing organic fertilisers and plant nutritional products to farmers, growers and home gardeners. These can replace the synthetic chemicals widely used, and produce impressive results, including faster plant growth, increased crop yields, healthier soils and plants more resistant to disease.
We believe growers should be informed of and given the choice of utilising new advanced tools, sparking the desire to become visionaries for our future and leading New Zealand to become the food bowl for the world.
Our products contain microorganisms and mineral nutrition. Both have equal importance when striving to improve plant and soil health. Modern-day synthetic chemical agriculture has not only taken its toll in terms of killing off beneficial organisms, sterilising soil which allows pathogens to flourish but also many years of commercial production have seen a decline in mineral density of our food by as much as 50 per cent.
In other words, we need to eat twice as much food to obtain the same mineral nutrition as our parents and grandparents did. We are eating our way to obesity and with more and more autoimmune and mineral-related diseases emerging, we want to make a significant change.
