“….how beautiful is this!”

Check out the Mycorrhizal fungi on these Tarata (lemonwood) roots!  Last year we were kindly donated some Mycorrhizal fungi from Roots, Shoots & Fruits Ltd, to use when we potted up our natives. The benefits are endless and sadly modern farming destroys the natural mycorrhizal fungi in our soils.

I’m ecstatic with the results, interestingly it has established best in the Tarata for whatever reason that may be.

Happy days, Happy farming.

What is Mycorrhizal fungi – Mycorrhizal fungi are amazing organisms that form a symbiotic relationship with plant roots, increasing the flow of nutrients from the soil and providing protection from pathogens.   They help with water uptake and storage which reduces stress to plants, and they improve soil structure through the Glycoprotein they secrete.   In addition, Mycorrhizal fungi are the unsung heroes of carbon sequestration and carbon storage permanence as they have the capacity to store 60% of all carbon sequestered from the atmosphere, via plants, into permanent sinks in the earth.
